Net Neutrality Made Us Who We Are

July 12, 2010 – 9:19 am
(Cross posted from Blog For America.) Back in 2004, I didn’t really get involved with partisan politics. I always voted for Democrats, but I never lifted a finger to help any candidate because I had no faith that they would ever listen to me. I voted more out of a sense of duty than anything else. I knew that I had no influence over the Democratic Party because I didn’t give them any money, and they didn’t ask. It seemed like they took my vote for granted.

Real Women Don’t Listen to This Crap

July 1, 2010 – 6:52 am
This is officially the most ridiculous crap I have read in a very long time. I hope that Feministing tears this to pieces. Here's a tiny little flavor: Obama: Our first female president No, I'm not calling Obama a girlie president. But . . . he may be suffering a rhetorical-testosterone deficit when it comes to dealing with crises, with which he has been richly endowed.

Not sure how to feel about this

If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It

June 15, 2010 – 2:09 pm
(Cross posted from OpenLeft.)  After reading Christina Bellatoni's piece in TPM "Operation Fix The Campaign: How National Parties Help Unlikely Winners," I was confused. Do national parties need to "fix" campaigns that won? I'm no expert, but shouldn't they learn from campaigns that won?

Let’s Break Up the Big Banks — We Have the Power

June 4, 2010 – 2:33 pm
(Cross posted at HuffingtonPost.com) Since December 2009, Arianna and the Move Your Money campaign have been calling on all Americans to divest from 'too big to fail' banks and put our money in community banks and credit unions that are accountable to their customers - us. Now, Democracy for America is joining in the fray and taking it up a notch. DFA has a three tiered campaign: First, DFA members move their money; second, organize state Democratic Parties to pass resolutions to move their money; and, finally, pressure state and local governments to move their money. Many Democrats are railing against Wall Street rhetorically and this is a great way to walk the talk.

The Untold Story

May 21, 2010 – 9:28 am
(Cross posted from Blog for America.) Benjamin Sarlin at The Daily Beast gets it right when he points out: Tuesday’s primaries may have been billed as a bipartisan rejection of party leaders. But the real winners were progressives, who exceeded expectations all over the country.

“Big Night for Progressives”

May 19, 2010 – 9:08 am
(Cross posted from Blog for America.) Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to get out the vote for the primaries last night. You guys rock. Arshad reported one highlight from AR: 392 volunteers called voters yesterday resulting in tens of thousands of voters who were contacted in Arkansas.

Back in the saddle again

May 9, 2010 – 2:04 pm
It has been a wonderful month. I haven't taken this much time off from working since I was in school, and I have to say, time off is great idea. My favorite thing to say to anyone who will listen all month long has been, "You know what's better than working: Not working."
