My first week
June 27, 2008 – 8:02 amWell, I have done more here in 5 days than I did in 3 months in Philly. The pace of life is much different in DC, and it is in accelerated campaign mode.
At long last - my photos are up
June 21, 2008 – 5:19 pmSorry this took so long. Little Big L, you can stop complaining now. (And, your Jamaica pictures better be up the day you get back.)
My last DL in PHL
June 16, 2008 – 4:05 pmI hope to see all of my friends at Drinking Liberally at Tangier this week. It will be my last DL in Philly for a while. I sure am going to miss you guys -- especially Katherine, the best waitress in the world.
Moving on up - or at least out for a while
June 12, 2008 – 5:02 pmWell, I am happy to announce that I just accepted a job in DC. I will be working for Health Care for All Americans Now. I thought about Health Care for All Americans Later--but that seemed like what we have been doing in this country for decades. Since this is the year of change, why not fix the problem NOW?
Off to the races
June 8, 2008 – 8:15 amSo, it's over and now it is time for the big show. I can't wait for Barack Obama to be our next president. The race is really beginning now. Instead of focusing on how exhausted the Democratic party is, I am going to look at it as excellent conditioning for the real race.
It’s about change
June 3, 2008 – 7:00 amI was having a conversation with a Hillary supporter friend of mine (who I love deeply so don't be mad) this weekend, and we argued a bit about the sexism in the media. Many Clinton supporters seem to think that the inherent sexism in the media is the reason for her lagging in the delegate count in the primary. I don't agree. I do think that there is inherent sexism and racism in the media commentary. However, I think the biggest story in this election, is that in spite of gender and race bias, they were both very successful at getting votes. More voters have voted in this primary for a woman and black man than have voted in any primaries in years.
You would have to be made of stone
May 22, 2008 – 12:48 pmI was wrapped up in my graduation/birthday celebration last weekend, and not paying much attention to the world. However, the humans won a big victory on the equality front in California last week.
SEPTA’s response to my email
May 17, 2008 – 6:00 amKim Heinle from SEPTA responded to my email with this thoughtful note the next day after I sent my email to him. However, I have been so busy with my job search and graduation weekend coming up, I didn't get a chance to post it. Sorry, SEPTA! While there are no promises in here that I would take to the bank, I think they are listening. Here is the response:
